Friends,

In December, Christmas came early and often at the Celebrate Outreach breakfast.

We served an average of 121 weekly meals.  Our highest number was 159 meals, which we served on December 17.  Fortunately, two of our long-term breakfast supporters, GFWC St. Petersburg Junior Woman’s Club (above, L) and youth from the St. Mary & St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church (center, R) were there to distribute toiletries and other goods.

On the following Saturday, one of the coldest Christmas Eves in memory, we passed out blankets (L) and Christmas cards hand-made by the children of St. Mary and St. Mina, bagged with a snack and a bottle of water (center). Brittany Howard and Dan Smith (R) donned festive Christmas ties to serve hot roast chicken.

You can see more photos from December and our year-end wrap-up on our Celebrate Outreach Facebook page, as well information on current activities. Below are details on three upcoming Celebrate Outreach events: tiny home dedication, fundraiser for our host church, and the return of drag queen bingo!

As always, we serve from Praise the Lord Outreach Ministries, 900 MLK Street South, St. Petersburg FL 33705.  Volunteers arrive at 7:30 AM and we finish serving by 9:30. And, as always, thanks to everyone who supports the breakfast.  Contact us for ways to help offsite, or to join our merry band on Saturday mornings!  A list of suggested donations is at the end of the newsletter.Debbie Bussinger Canningcanningd58@yahoo.com

Second Tiny Home Groundbreaking

Join Celebrate Outreach along with civic, religious and non-profit leaders at 10:00 AM this Thursday, January 19th at for the groundbreaking ceremony for Celebrate Outreach’s second tiny home. The ceremony will be at the new home site, 4119 12th Ave. S., St. Petersburg, FL.  The tiny home will provide a home ownership opportunity for a household at risk of becoming homeless.

The ceremony is part of the St. Peterburg Unitarian Universalist Church week of service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., so participants should dress casually if they would also like to participate in work at the site.

For more information on the service, contact Sabine von Aulock 973-768-3256 or sabinevaulock@gmail.com

David Roth Fundraiser for Celebrate Outreach’s home church

The St. Petersburg Unitarian Universalist Church has long been a friend to Celebrate Outreach and people living without shelter in St. Petersburg.  They are the home base for Celebrate Outreach’s offices, for Still… No Room in the Inn Christmas caroling, for the homeless memorial service, and for other activities supporting our homeless brothers and sisters, including the weekly Friday Night Sunset Supper.  They recently became a cold night shelter, as seen in this news report which features Celebrate secretary Sabine von Aulock and homeless volunteer Ed Miller: St. Pete church shelters over a dozen people during cold snap | WFLA

This coming Saturday, January 21st the UU presents singer/songwriter David Roth in a benefit for the church:
