seemed to be about getting to know each other better. The 60-Second Sharing ice breaker started everyone in that direction with the statement, "When I was in high school, I was likely to be _________." Answers that filled in the blank ranged from funny
Afterwards, nominees for the Board also had opportunities to share why they wanted to serve in that capacity. Each of them focused on their volunteer history with us as well as the skills and interests they will bring to the table to help make CO!
In keeping with the grassroots nature of our organization, the Executive Committee okayed the push to receive nominations from all of CO!'s members and friends, not just Directors. Inviting this kind of input was
certainly historical, and it further defined the unique character of this organization.
Five seats for the Board were available to be filled. Three of the six nominees were seeking to be re-elected. The ballots were distributed to the Board members. On the first ballot four people were elected. One more person was needed, but two were running. In the end, the Executive Committee convened and voted to add an
additional seat to the Board and allow the remaining two persons to be elected.
So, congratulations to James Knight, Irene Pavese and G.W. Rolle who were re-elected to serve another two-year term. We also welcome three new Directors to the Board -- Thomas Brooks, James Jones, and Jackie Taylor.
An installation service will be held on April 26th to formerly receive the elected Board members. It will also give all of us the opportunity to recommit to the mission and vision of Celebrate Outreach. We believe we can prevent and end homelessness in greater St. Petersburg, and getting to know and embrace each other is an
affirming step in the right direction.
